An Update from The Open Nest

pinkfloyd

First big fundraising news from the charity and for all Pink Floyd fans.

After reading some of Jazz Boorman’s moving posts on All Aboard the Trauma Train, Nick Mason from the band has donated three rare boxsets, which he will sign in dedication to the lucky highest bidder. These items are currently for auction on  Ebay, take a look HERE . I know everyone from the open Nest would like to extend a huge thank you to Nick Mason and also Gareth Marr, who was instrumental in making this happen.

There are a couple of other fundraising activities being conducted by brave and generous people. Kayti Boorman is running 10K in london and one young man is walking coast to coast along Hadrians wall. To find out more and to make a donation please visit The Open Nest JustGiving Page.

and finally we are very happy bring you…..

The Adoption Social Summer Camp – Hosted by The Open Nest

The Open Nest has been offered support from Sunderland University. Alongside us,Dr Wendy Thorley, senior lecturer, is working towards practitioners in health and education having a better understanding of trauma and attachment.

DSC_0296 As part of our joint aims Dr Thorley has agreed to provide 8 registered child care workers to do activities with adoptees at a Summer camp in August. The camp will be held in The North Yorkshire Moors National Park at the home of The Open Nest Charity. Accommodation will be at La Rosa Campsite www.larosa.co.uk.
The short break is for up to 3 nights between 25th- 28th August 2015. There is no cost involved.

Parents will be able to enjoy the surroundings knowing children are having fun whilst being safe and cared for by support that is attachment and trauma aware.

Places will be very limited so if you are interested please contact theopennest@yahoo.co.uk to discuss the application to take part.
