We Are Family and the South London Adoption Consortium are holding an evening meeting on ‘Why Children Placed From Care Need Support in School‘. Scott Casson-Rennie, Adoption UK’s senior regional manager will be explaining why children with a background of trauma need support. Then Hermione Michaud and Claire Doubleday from Islington’s Virtual School will set out the support they offer to adopted and guardianship children in their borough. Both sessions will also cover supporting parents in this essential part of their children’s growing up.
There will be plenty of time for questions after the presentations.
Preparing to adopt can be both exciting and frustrating. At this time schools and education can be touched on but doesn’t dominate the process. For many adopters once their children go to school it can dominate their lives. So come and learn more. There have been plenty of bookings from prospective adopters, adopters, virtual schools, social workers and teachers. Admission is free but booking is required. For more details click here.
