The Adoption Social Times is back again, sharing all things The Adoption Social with you…
Brilliance in Blogging
Wow, well that was a surprise. For those of you who don’t know – The Adoption Social was nominated, then shortlisted down to the final 16 of the ‘Social’ category of the Britmums Brilliance In Blogging awards – known as the BIBS. We’re chuffed to bits to have been nominated, but shortlisted too – that’s a fantastic achievement because despite #WASO running for 68 weeks now, The Adoption Social isn’t quite a year old yet. So a big thank you to you for nominating and voting for us. We’re on tenterhooks today as we wait to hear if we’re finalists. And not only that, but we too are up for awards for our own blogs – The Puffin Diaries and The Boy’s Behaviour – and we’ve both been shortlisted in the ‘Inspire’ category. Even if we get no further, it’s great to see adoption related blogs being recognised by the UK’s biggest parenting blogger network. So…keep your fingers cross for us!
And speaking of Britmums…
A quick reminder that we’re off to Britmums Live in June. If you’re coming too, then please do let us know and we can try to meet up if you like.
We still need you!
We are always looking for posts in the following areas:
Monday – Handy Tips and Advice
Tuesday – The Blog (anonymous or in your name)
Wednesday – Adoption Social Connections (advice on blogging/social media)
Thursday – The Review or A Problem Shared
The Adoption Social is supposed to be a social place – so come along, add your posts, support each other.
You might have noticed – #MemoryBox is back! So make sure you write up those posts that celebrate the good bits, and help you remember the celebratory times, then pop over and link up. We’d love to see you there.
It’s great to see some new bloggers linking up to #WASO, keep ’em coming people. Do remember to comment on other blogs if you can. Just a ‘popping in from #WASO’ is enough if you can’t think of anything else to say, but it helps the bloggers see who is visiting their site and where those readers are coming from.
Forthcoming themes for the next few weeks are:
30 May – Our best day this week…
13 June – The great outdoors
27 June – Forever
A reminder about The Adoption Social fundraiser
The Open Nest has very generously offered to donate all profits from it’s campsite on the weekend of 15-16 August to The Adoption Social, so that we can develop the website further.
If you’d like to find out more about booking, either on The Adoption Social fundraising weekend, or any other time, have a look at The Open Nest’s site here. Alternatively, if camping isn’t your thing, then you can still support The Open Nest charity by staying at their gorgeous boutique hotel – La Rosa – in Whitby, it comes recommended by us 🙂
And finally, here are a few of the posts we’ve published on The Adoption Social this month:
– We published posts on how to start a blog – on either WordPress or Blogger.
– Has your child had their SATS yet? Some children are yet to sit theirs – and we posted a question about supporting your child through theirs…
– The lovely @ivavnuk wrote us a piece about being Scared. It’s really good and well worth a read, and a share too.
– We gave you our Top 3 WASO posts – were your favourites included?
– Adoption Journey Blog wrote about balancing confidentiality – do have a read.
– A prospective adoptive mum asks more about the process of adoption now.
– And we supported National Fostering Fortnight, by posting a piece from UK Fostering.
If you have any posts that you’d like to contribute, then please do send them into us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We also love hearing your feedback, so do get in touch.
