The Adoption Social Times

Our monthly round-up of all things Adoption Social

Weekly Adoption Shout Out
Many thanks to everyone who has linked up over the last month – there are so many of you blogging and sharing now. It’s great to see how the community has developed and grown over the last few years. Keep on joining in, reading and sharing posts, to keep our amazing community going.
Themes for the forthcoming weeks:
18 December – Looking back
15 January – If I were a child…

***We’re taking a break over Christmas so the above #WASO will open on 18th December and remain open until 3 January. The #WASO after that will be 8 January and is theme free.***

TAS Awards
Well, I mentioned some awards news last month, and here’s more about it. We’re holding our very own awards this year, and winners will be announced in a live Twitter party, 9pm on January 7th. If you want to join in by nominating your favourite blogger, or best twitter friend, then find out more in this post, and drop us a line. Come on, let’s give our online friends and supporters a bit of love.

Our next #TASchat takes place this week. Are you coming along? You’ll find us on Twitter, Thursday evening at 9-10pm. This week we’ll be having a fairly general get to know you chat with a festive twist! I’m bringing the mince pies – will you bring the brandy?
Use the hashtag #taschat to find us all.
Future #TASchats:
January – 7 January – Awards ‘ceremony’
February – 11 February – Personal hygiene
March – 10 March – To be confirmed

Christmas break
We’ll be taking a break over the Christmas period to enjoy some time with our families and maybe plan a little for next year on The Adoption Social (stranger things have happened). So our final #WASO before we break will start on 18 December, and we’ll leave it open during our break – it’ll close on 3 January. During the break we’ll be sharing our most popular posts of 2015 during the week before, and the week following Christmas Day. We’ll be back with brand new posts on 4 January.

As always, TASPic has provided a bit of creative relief for some, and our theme of ‘all for me’ was another popular one. In keeping with the time of year, this month’s theme is ‘festive fun’. See a round up here of some of our favourite images from last month.

Adoption Sore Points
This year we’ve run a couple of our #SorePoints weeks – on subjects that are a little harder to think and talk about, but are important all the same. The next #SorePoints week takes place 8-14 February, and the subject will be ‘Personal Hygiene’ – body odour, refusal to wash, wetting/soiling, periods and puberty too. If you’d like to write a guest post on your experiences of the above, anonymously or named, then please drop us a line at as soon as possible. What have you or your child experienced? How have you handled it? What worked? What didn’t? What do you need more help with?

During the #SorePoints week, we’ll be sharing guest posts, book reviews, resources and on the Thursday of that week we’ll be hosting a twitter chat too. So put that date in your diary and come and join in.

A Problem Shared
Have you got an adoption related problem? Want some advice but not sure where to turn? Why not drop us a line at We can include your problem on our ‘A Problem Shared’ page where our supportive community can make suggestions and share advice. You can do it anonymously or in your own name. Previous problems can be found just here, so you never know, someone may have already asked your question…
